Iranian film ‘Mansour’ to premiere at Fajr

Iranian feature ‘Mansour’ has been set to be premiered at the 39th edition of the Fajr Film Festival (FFF) in Tehran.

Siavash Sarmadi’s film, previously known as ‘Owj 110’, is currently undergoing the post-production stage in order to take part in the 39th FFF.

The film tells untold stories about the eight years of Sacred Defense during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

It is about parts of the life of martyr Mansour Sattari and the production of the first completely Iranian warplane.

Iraq invaded Iran on September 22, 1980. The war, which began 19 months after the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, lasted almost eight years and ended on August 20, 1988.

It is commemorated in Iran every year as the eight years of Sacred Defense.

Iranian actor Mohsen Qassabian has played the role of Sattari in ‘Mansour’.

On Wednesday, a photo showing the transformation Qassabian underwent for the role was unveiled.

Last month, Mohammad-Mehdi Tabatabaeenejad, the head of the FFF, announced that the 2021 edition of the event will be held without public screenings and will only see jurors watching and judging the participating movies.

The FFF coincides with the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the FFF has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.
